Nanny (to 2 "gifted" boys who refused to go outside and play and cried when I told them it was picnic day, had them get in their bathing suits and sprayed them with a hose.... I was not asked back the following summer - :-)
Box packer on a conveyor belt at a pharmaceutical mail order (not sure what the title of that job really is other than "REALLY SUCKY SUMMER JOB")
Dunham's Sporting Goods (had MAJOR trouble with the cash register, so they put me in hunting and fishing in which I had NO knowledge - western PA is BIG on hunting - this job SO reminded me to go back to college after break!)
7th grade English & Gifted Reading Teacher (triple loved this job but quit to be a SAHmom!)
Now: tutor & Junior Varsity Cheer Coach & MOM

I totally know where Slippery Rock is. I'm a former-Philly girl and my cousins lived in Slippery Rock.
If you like the Glass Castle (I LOVED it) read: A Girl Named Zippy by Haven Kimmel. It's similar, but funnier. You have to have a slightly warped/silly sense of humor to like it.

HI--hey I have never commented on your blog before but THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for sharing what you did about your parents!!! We have a biological son and a beautiful daughter from Guatemala and we are in the midst of adopting a boy from Guatemala --I always wonder what Sophie will think when she grows up ---She is my heart and soul soooo much more than I could have ever dreamt about--
Thank you for sharing--it sounds like you have an amazing realtionship with your mom and that is what I want with my daughter but most of all it sounds like your parents are just amazing in the way they raised you!--Thank you soooo very much for sharing it may sound so corny but I want to be the mom your mom was to you!!!!!
