Guess who turned ONE?

WHO?

ME?
It's MEEEEE! I am ONE? Do I get CAKE?

YAYYYYY!

I will give you a KISS for CAKE!
How about if I POSE for cake?
Mom, you are FUNNY!
Stop tickling me!
What is the dog doing?Oh, he is singing me Happy Birthday!
Dumb, DOG... I will pull your tail later!
Then run you over with my John Deer!I'm coming for you, DOG.
Oh, No, Daddy came home from work and caught me! I swear I wasn't gonna do anything to that Stupid Dog!
************************************************

It is strange, and I don't know if any other adoptive moms felt this way - he does not feel ONE. I guess because he has only been here a few months, but it just seemed strange to celebrate his one year.. maybe I will feel differently when he has been HOME one year.
The day was very low key - and WONDERFUL. We played all day, talked to everyone on the phone, Jeff picked up Alli from volleyball tryouts, we ate supper and cake, ran to visit my mom, then my dad at work, came home and went to bed. It was great. Exactly how we wanted it!
We are really blessed. I know that I say that, but with some things going on in others lives around me these past 2 weeks it has made me realize truly how blessed we are. How did we get so lucky? 2 beautiful kids, a husband who is awesome, great family... who could ask for more? Things are not perfect, but I have more than I could want.
Mario is a cool kid. He really has such a great, easy-going temperament. THANK THE LORD. We run so much here, and we are thankful he is so "go with the flow." Things are hopefully slowing down with things for us in the Spring... I just can't wait to get him outside for walks. Seeing how much he loves playing, I can only imagine him in a swing! I took a crazy amount of pictures yesterday since he was just being his cute smiley self...I will just post them in 2 sections... this one is us "hanging out" yesterday.
I just love my kids to pieces. Happy Birthday, Mario, my sweet little man!

Happy Birthday Mo!! And no, it didn't feel like my kids were 1 when they were really 1. We have a 2nd birthday coming up soon and that one feels like he should really be 2.

I know EXACTLY how you feel! In fact the whole month of January (V's b-day month) I would say something like "maybe next year, after Valentina turns one" or something else like that. I still keep thinking "this is her first Easter" or "her first 4th of July" and I'm SHOCKED when I can't find clothes that say that in 24 months size! LOL. Seriously though! It's OUR first xxxxx, so it feels like she should have the clothes to go with it! Anyway, you aren't weird (well, you ARE, but, you know....) and I feel the same way. It's becoming more "normal" now that she's 14 months, so maybe in 2 months everything will finally "click" for you too, since we really seem to be on the same wavelength!

I can't see any signs of the rash. Is it completely gone? If so, what a great birthday present!

Happy Birthday Mario! He is so sweet! Yes I feel the same way you do. Mia doesn't feel one at all and I think that once she's been home longer than she was in Guatemala things will finally seems "normal". Mario is going to break some hearts in a few years!

Happy Belated Birthday to an Absolutely Adorable Lil Guy !!!

I was away and didn't take all of my addresses with me....

I love that you had a warm, cozy and slow paced birthday.... filled with family and friends.

I'm sure it doesn't seem like a year - in fact, I remember not too long ago worrying that he would be here in time for his 1st birthday..

Love the photos of a very happy lil guy !!!
