Favorite Foto Friday - Shake Your Groove Thang!

Sarah, from Kiss the Frog, has picked the PERFECT theme for me this week (I KNOW it was for me personally, Sarah, come on, admit it!). Alli's 13th Birthday party was Friday, June 13th, and I have taken FOREVER and a day to get these posted... and what better theme than, Dancing!

Alli's super-fun party was a dance at a local social hall. There were around 50 7th -9th graders there! Alli wanted to not have a theme, so she picked 3 colors to decorate - light blue, brown and silver! My BFF Jenn was a HEEEE-UUUUUGE help meeting me to pack her car with balloons and decorating hours before the party started. My parents packed up their car as well with liters and liters of pop and so much candy, you could barely see out of the windows of the car. Alli decided she wanted a "Candy Bar," so my mother and father bought every possible candy imaginable! It was awesome! From ring pops to Laffy Taffy, licorice to chocolate bars - even those little gummies shaped like hamburgers! The dj was awesome, and the kids were SO well behaved... enjoy the many favorites of my FFF!

Alli's 1st cake (white)
the side or scored cake (chocolate)

she picked STARS as her accent

We decorated the entry, so they have to walk in 70s style... remember having those on your doorways, ladies?
silly, Alli
My beautiful daughter and beautiful BFF, Jenn.

Jenn's middle son, Dustin... heartbreaker... how cute are those freckles?
movement
Jenn's youngest, Chase... cutie patootie
Alli's neighbor, Rachel, Alli and Jenn's oldest, Cameron... Mr. Personality!
Jenn and her baby!
Me and my baby!

gorgeous Rachel
my dad (prior to hip replacement) threatening kid with his cane as they came in the door - just kidding.... my parents were GREAT though... they stayed the entire time with Mario... look at the spread beside my dad... Puffs galore!
my wonderful mom!
Cameron... boogie down!
I know it is weird that all pics are from the back, but if I don't have permission, I don't post kid's faces... they were doing their little "group" dances here... the ones I knew (and participated in) were the Electric Slide, the Cha Cha Slide - which they certainly DO NOT know how the CHA CHA... they shimmy... funny! They did the Soulja Boy (sp?) dance which I am far to uncoordinated to know and this one I had NEVER heard of called the Cupid Shuffle. It was cute to watch them get all excited over Thriller and do the dance... it was NOT so cute to see them get so excited about "I kissed a girl, and I liked it".....

I. just. love. my. mama.

I kissed a girl, and I liked it! one of my favorite pics... Daddy's girl, Principal Jeff... so conservative... it was SO unusual to get him in a Hawaiian shirt! What a great sport!

"what in the hell did I get myself into?"
"these kids are NUTS!"

"is it over yet?"
"put that camera away or I will shove it up your...."
It was such a fun night, but after dancing and monitoring and decorating, and cleaning up.... 11pm was REALLY late for this mama! The kids had fun, and I was pleasantly surprised how well behaved they ALL were! Alli has some really nice friends!

I'm a little late reading this post... but WOW what fun. I love a good dance party.

And how cute is it that they danced to Thriller!

"I kissed a girl and I liked it"... has still dumbfounded me. I like the beat and all but geeze... the lyrics are just what our pre-teen kids need :)

Anyway, Congratulations on a perfect party! Tell Ali she looks beautiful.

great party for a great girlie. Looked so much fun. I love a good party.

I don't think that "I kissed a girl" is appropriate for radio play. Period. Back when i was a girl.....LOL

Mo's expressions are priceless. I love that little guy.
