Perfect Summer Weekend...

How many of you feel like you are so exhausted by this time in the summer? wondering where all of the summer has gone? feeling like is JUST started? Well, that is how I was feeling... I was irritated at my friends who were just leaving for their vacations... envious of those who have their deep dark tans from lounging by the pool...

What in the world have we been doing all summer?

I feel like I have been chasing the perfect summer weekend. For some of you that means different things - for me, it means just going where the day takes us... no arguing, no fussing, staying out a bit later - Feeling relaxed and thankful at the end of the day...

FINALLY, we had that this weekend.

Friday after Jeff got off of work, we met my parents at the mall. It was so much fun shopping with my mom, Mario hanging with my dad and Jeff... just chatting!

Saturday, Alli had her pictures for the cheer group she coaches. It was early Saturday morning, and it was hot, but the girls all looked so cute in their uniforms! I took a few of my Alli...

I know I am her mom, but I just think that she is just such a pretty girl. I am so proud of her!
She had a swim party to attend from 2-6, so on our way home from picking her up we stopped by our little town's 175th Anniversary street fair! I love street fairs, carnivals and the like, especially the FOOD! Remember, we live in a tiny town, so this was BIG here! Anyone else from tiny towns? Holla!
the street at night...
I forced Alli to do spin art... well, you just HAVE to do spin art at a fair!

her masterpiece
there was even live entertainment
"mom, this is so stupid, why are those guys singing..."

"I am NOT going to enjoy this, you can't make me."
"what the?.... the guy DOES play a mean bass."

"I guess I could be persuaded to listen to them... what is the name of the band?"

"get the hell out...mom's southern friends will think that is FUNNY..."

Their name was the Cranky Yankees!

We live in the land of 3 rivers (Allegheny, Monongahela, Ohio)... this is on a dock on the Allegheny
I had no idea that the 2 of us were standing so similarly... what dorks... she is so annoyed...
Alli thought the river was wide... she needs to get out more! lol.I just love this pic of her.
me and my girl
"They let me out of that stroller... let's make a break for it, Sissy!""wait, I think I see something..."
"STICKS!"
This is my other fav pic!

Mario just sprints now...
"I am running so fast with my stick... mommy keeps freaking out that I am going to poke my eye out!"
"now THIS is a stick you should be worried about, mama!"
"oh, I hear the tunes... and you know that country music makes me wanna drop it like its hot!"
shake it, shake it
"Heeeey, ladies, I am single and ready to mingle!"
"Dad, where are all of these chicks you keep talking about?"

"I will impress them with my stick!"
"and my dancin skills!"
"I betcha no other Guat Tot has moves and can shake it like THIS!"
"oh, man, dad meant actual CHICKS."
"That SUCKS!"
It really was a perfect summer weekend... Jeff cut grass, I leisurely grocery shopped (which never happens now), Alli went out with friends AND we spent time as a family. What more can you ask for?

ohmygoshJill, I feel the SAME way! WHERE has the summer gone? I swear, I just blinked my eyes and WHOOSH! The summer is almost over! Glad to hear you had a great weekend. And is it just me or is Alli getting so OLD?! I mean, just in the past few weeks she's really matured and looks older!

Alli is beautiful!

I am from a very small town in SC (don't live there anymore) and we would always have street carnivals. We called them street dances. The whole town closed down to go to them.

And don't even get me started on the foot ball craziness! :)

Girl, I would love a vacation that doesn't include Guatemala.... I'm ready for something non-adoption related! The kiddos are gorgeous as usual... You look FAB in the pics!

Your weekend looks lovely. I'm so glad you had a blast.

PS: Like you, I absolutely LOVE fairs, carnivals, etc. I'm obsessed with funnel cakes and elephant ears... and I can only find them at our state Fair. Thank goodness the fair starts next weekend. Finally I can satisfy my sweet tooth!

Jill you are so ADORABLE and Alli looks just like you! I think Mario and Mimi would make a gorgeous couple BTW. Mimi is a cougar like that - she'd totally date a 1 year old.

BTW the fair reminds me of that town in the movie with Dick Van Dyke - the Music Man? Yes we've got trouble. Right here in River City! (Am I 75 years old or what?)

Great pics...and I often find myself wondering where did our summer go, too. Mario and my Layna are almost the same age. Layna was born on March 30th and came home December 20th.

Please add me to your blog roll...I don't see my blog on there!

Looks like a fun weekend! I am from a small town in Louisiana and loved our street carnivals!

I am not Alli's mother and I think she is GORGEOUS... looks like her mom!:) I also agree that Mario is quite the little looker and if things don't work out between him and MiMi, keep Bella in mind!! LOL

Really, what is the deal with little boys and sticks?? We have a no stick rule in this house because the eye poking out potential freaks me out.

I'll be shooting you off an email here sometime when I get caught up with life post-vacation. I would love to get together with you sometime!
