After furiously checking the "Guatemalan News" as I do every day MANY times per day, this happened:
Hague Passed in Guatemala
In a special session of Congress today, the Hague Convention was passed. New articles of ascension must be deposited with the Hague and it will take effect three months after that. The treaty is scheduled to go into effect Dec. 31, 2007.
What this means is that Guatemala MUST pass Hague compliant legislation. In reality, this means little more than reaffirming the US's position that Guatemala is in the Hague and setting a domestic deadline for Guatemala to pass and implement new legislation.
This is no reason for concern for in-process families.
This was posted on a reliable website. I am not sure at this point exactly what this will mean for us since we are "in process." More time, more wait... my theory about them not passing anything until August 1st has been blown completely out of the water... UGH! What a DARN day! :-) I am trying to smile and refocus my energy on cleaning the house... or go eat more ice cream! :-)
Thanks for listening, friends, family, bloggers and lurkers! It is good to know you are all out there reading!

Just hang on to that phrase saying this should be of NO CONCERN to those already "in process." You are in process and I just feel that Mario is meant to be your baby. We will just begin to pray without ceasing that things will get moved along quickly. Only good thoughts coming your way.
Bee
Honey, I don't know what to say except that we're continuing our prayers. Your mom is wonderful about keeping us (your extended Home Talk family) updated, so we're all quick to jump on the prayer chain train. I believe in miracles, and I believe that one is unfolding for you.
{{{ Jill }}} God Bless that your mom directed us over here tonight.... I had checked last evening - but just got on the computer...
I immediately read your postings and then went to check at www.adoption.com....
Everyone there is hanging onto.... "The Hague Convention goes into effect on Dec. 31. Adoptions already in progress before that date will be allowed to move forward under the previous rules."
As Becky and Bee have already posted, we're "revving" up our prayers into high gear...
Please know that we're all there with you in spirit and sending prayers that God's will is to bring lil sweet Mario home to y'all.... and soon...
Sending GIGANTIC HUGS your way.... along with MAJOR prayers...
Hoping that The Serenity Prayer can be a source of strength and comfort to you....

Whew! We swoze in under the line, sweetums. Ain't life grand.
I'm not minimizing your fears cauz I know how you feel. I do I do. In this particular journey my sweet Mama, every lil bump seems like a mountain and as bumps go this one prolly seems like a crater, especially when you are alone with your thoughts, but you know what? . . .how would good things be so deliciously good if there weren't the big bad bumps along the way?
Funny how God sets it up that way but I can tell from your posts that you have the faith and the belief in Him to ride right through those bumps and momentary setbacks to get to the delicious end. Which, by the way, is the beginning. ; - )

Jill, just know that we are all here holding your hand, saying prayers and hoping for good news. But I agree what the heck would we do if life didn't throw us a bump in the road. Sounds like you guys are very lucky. But know that the almighty HTE prayer chain is in the works.
You have my thoughts, prayers and wish for good luck, as well. Certainly little Mario will find his way to you...despite all the bumps in the road. Have faith that he will be joining your family soon. Sounds to me like you're well under way and the Hague Convention won't mean a darn thing in your situation. Remember it's NO CONCERN!
Blessings to you and your family...including little Mario!

So many prayers coming your way-that little boy is just enveloped in cyber-hugs!! Don't lose faith-he is on his way to you-we all KNOW that. So glad Alli had a wonderful birthday. I have a 13 year old Allie and that age is such a roller coaster. Jill, we're all waiting and praying with your family. {{{Hugs}}}

Hi Jeff, Jill, and Allie,
Thinking of you all and keeping you and sweet Mario in prayer. May God hold you all extra close during your time of waiting. Your faith will continue to give you strength each and every day.
Love,
Robin
Jill,
Just remember you are "in process". Like Bee said I also believe that Mario is your baby and soon you will be holding him in your arms. I'm still praying that everything will work out fine.

Hang in there Jill....I'm with the others in belief that the Hague Convention won't affect your bringing baby Mario home to the US soon. Heartfelt prayers for you and Jeff as you go through these uncertain times.
Happy Belated birthday to Allie ! Sounds like she had a great party and how refreshing that the kids were all so respectful and well behaved. Raising good kids can be done !!
