Football, PGN and Sleep

Wow, has this been an extra busy week. Jeff and I have been talking a lot about how things are going to be when we add a baby to the mix. It has been a LOOOOOOONG time since we have had a little one here, so we are a bit nervous. Seeing so many people holding their little ones this week has caused a bit of concern about the fact that things are going to have to slow down in our lives when the speed up with a baby.

Here in "these parts" there is more football than you can shake a stick at.... I am over it! :-) Jeff loves, loves, loves football. He is not a Steeler fan, much to the dismay of this community. It is pure blasphemy to say you are not a Steeler fan in "Steeler Country!" I just remind people that he is "not from here!" We go to the Friday night high school games. I coach the JV cheerleaders, so the JV games are ours, too. Jeff coaches a youth football team of 10-11 year olds. I coach the 7-13 year old youth cheerleading, and Alli is on the 12-13 year old squad. PLUS, Jeff is a HUUUUUGE Notre Dame fan (although they are hurting this year), so between that and the NFL games, we are up to our wazoos in football. I love football weather, so once it get s bit chillier, I think that I will be more in the spirit. It is hard to root on you home team here while sweating. I think that I need the whole atmosphere - chill in the air, smell of hot dogs, sound of the drums from the band - not the smell of sunscreen!

We hosted mini camp for cheerleading this week for the high school with the little ones cheering at the Friday night game. 100 elementary school kids in blue and gold. It was so cute with their pig tails and pom pons. Those waiting for little girls - it is the BEST. I keep telling my co-advisor that I will have no idea what to do with a boy! They are so different it seems. I am excited, but so not outdoorsy. I wonder if that is a big deal. It just amazes me that I never even thought of packing a whole extra outfit for Alli, but I see my friends boys come to them at the end of watching the game - and they are filthy head to toe!! How does that happen? lol!

Speaking of outdoors, Jeff's parents have been working outside in our yard. His dad is laying a concrete step at the bottom of our front steps. They have cleared all kinds of brush, and we have a guy coming to cut down trees this week. Then the excavating of dirt and planting more grass will come! They love to work outside, which I do not get. It so foreign to me. I would rather do anything inside! They are such hard workers - it is amazing. I will take some pictures of the progress.

We are WEEK 3 in PGN. We are on the 2nd reviewers desk. I have seen "outs" or cases being approved by the final reviewer (#3 - Sr. Barrios) from submits at the end of July. We are the end of August, so we do not expect (hope, pray - yes) to be out until 4-5 weeks from now. The wait is long, but we are trying to get ready for him in the meantime. I am longing for his photos from his 6 month check up. I hope they come tomorrow. Once we are released, I think it is taking 4-6 weeks until travel - is that true, Guatmamas?

Since I mentioned travel plans - Jeff FINALLY applied for his passport. It had been so busy around here, that he had not been able to go. I am so happy that this was done... it should take 2-3 weeks, since we expedited.

That is all for my ramblings today. I am a coming out of my funk today.. I need some sleep, so I am hoping for a much less eventful week. Things can slow down for us here and speed up in Guatemala anytime now! Now if I can only pick paint colors for the nursery....

Dearest Jill... How wonderful to see you feeling somewhat more encouraged than your last post.... You're doing a fantastic job at "riding" your emotions and I'm sure you can see that "going with" them (instead of trying to fight them) is much healthier and most certainly gets those funks behind you much quicker.

I've been thinking about the update photos also, knowing it's getting near the end of the month.

You didn't share what NFL team Jeff supports... ???

Hoping you'll be able to post photos of the new hardscape/landscaping that your in-laws are helping with....

Wishing you a beautiful fall..... and sending lots and lots of hugs your way...

fondly - janice
