We received an odd, but exciting email today! Our attorney in Guatemala sent a letter to us to provide to our insurance company that stated: "Mario (middle) (maiden) (last name) who was earmarked to Jeffrey and Jill Lesko became their legal responsibility on March 17th, 2007..."
This means that we are able to insure him now!!!! The word "earmarked" is odd, so we assume it is a strange translation :-)
Things are fine so far. We are still waiting for our social worker in Guatemala to write up our report from the birth mother interview (could take 8 weeks). We also just got word that our paperwork for our DNA was sent to Guatemala today as well. We are next in line for the buccal (DNA). Here is hoping that Pre-Approval (after DNA) comes quickly!
God is Good! Have a great weekend, bloggers!

Jill - it must be so hard - I mean if Mario is "earmarked" - then he is yours !!! At least that's how I read it....
So glad you continue to get good encouraging news.... Praying that "things" will go quickly....

That's one more confirmation that he is your son! I'm with the rest in praying that it all moves ahead quickly.

Well gal you can't insure something that insn't yours now, can you...... ; - >
Earmark, insure, I tell you what. This language we use when we adopt seems strangely inappropriate to use when you speak of babies, doesn't it, but oddly enough, after it's all over,it becomes so uniquely an integral part of the process that it ends up being part of the story you'll tell Mario over and over and over again about how he came to be yours. It's sort of the 'comic relief' to an otherwise intense and stressful time.
Glad things are progressing.
I bet you've never been so happy to pay your insurance policy before !! What great news ...sounds like things are moving along smoothly :) Congrats on this latest step !
